Damien Stolarz is an entrepreneur with fifteen years of experience making computers talk to each other. He co-founded Static (aka Blue Falcon Networks, now Akimbo) in 1995, where he led the development of numerous technologies, including an online service, networked multiplayer games, and peer-to-peer cost-reduction software for video streaming. In 2002, Damien started Robotarmy Corp., a software consultancy and R&D house, which develops large-scale media delivery software amongst other secret projects. Damien holds B.S. in Computer Science/ Engineering from UCLA. He has written and spoken widely on Internet video, content delivery, and peer-to-peer technology. Richard Koman provided critical editorial guidance for the book throughout its development. As an editor for O’Reilly & Associates, Richard developed best-selling web design books like Web Design in a Nutshell, Designing with JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide. He was also the editor of O’Reilly’s OpenP2P.com website, covering developments in peer-to-peer networking. In 2003, he cofounded Anywhere Books, a nonprofit applying the Internet Archive’s Internet Bookmobile concept with the needs of developing countries.
